I absolutely understand.
The world is nuts, the noise is overwhelming, the stress and anxiety are taking a toll. We prefer good news only. We want just positivity. We need bad stuff to go away - someplace else. We want it possibly just in the movies, or, we want it to affect someone else but not us. And just like that, we begin to believe that by selecting what we talk about, think about, share about, will make everything bad disappear from our lives. We begin selecting our relationships based on positivity rankings, we cut ourselves off from people who “complain” too much about a reality we simply cannot digest. We truly and sincerely wish and even demand that reality must be consumed in small bites, like comfort food, always fresh and colorful, and without a single blemish anywhere. We sanitize our lives, our relationships, our community - if we can - and our own ability to observe, in order to feel better, safe, joyful.
Take a deep breath and think of somewhere relaxing.
In this context, numbness is the taste of avoidance. So we chase that thought away and everyone around us who can even so slightly bring us back from our sweet denial.
I absolutely understand. This is the inner place where we can still retreat from feeling powerless as the world around us is convulsing with relentless turbulence.
There is no doubt in my mind that this strategy works. With a little perseverance, luck, and a bit of financial privilege, we can build a denial fence around our personal space, a force field powered by our own will to sleepwalk through the storms. A force field fueled by one or more drugs of choice - jokes, bad TV, alcohol, food, and even work. Anything to count us down from reality and into a moral abyss where we no longer are responsible from anything outside of our denial force field. This works for those of us who, deep inside, are still human.
If this is you, you should stop here. What comes next is not pleasant, not positive in the way that you might prefer it, and it will probably taste like metal. Keep reading, and you will find an aftertaste meant to never dissipate from your consciousness.
For those of us awake and aware, it is nearly impossible to ignore the systematic erosion of critical thinking and civic education in our society along with the exponential growth of information noise mostly driven by AI applications throughout the Media and Entertainment industries. Continuous steps are being taken by the largest content providers to accelerate the dumbing down of the human population, to enforce neurological conditioning of how we think and for how long we can sustain thinking before seeking distraction. These are not random actions. They are strikes against the “nervous system” of human civilization, not meant to destroy but to incapacitate. We are being morally and intelectually anesthetized at unprecedented speed and with virulent ferocity - especially targeting younger generations.
I said it before and will continue to say it until I am no longer walking on this Earth, the ultimate goal for what we are witnessing - the only possible goal - is a total control of humanity, both in quantity AND quality. Human civilization is being pushed toward a massive reduction in numbers while a supremacy-based ideology is rapidly permeating all of our values by means of various forms of extremism. In parallel, the AI infrastructure is swiftly replacing redundancy with a singularity - which will act as a control, coercion, and even elimination mechanism. In the background of it all, climate changes already provide the necessary cover while economic levers are being deployed worldwide.
My personal question is not who will win this war on humanity, but who will miscalculate its outcome, and the real concern is at what cost will this war unfold? In short, here is what I think we are witnessing and why I call it a war:
We are witnessing a transformative phase coupled with a transfer of power. I call it a war, because the parties involved chose to overcome rather than negotiate the transformational process. What was chosen was a rapid implementation rather than a slow and safe transition. What was accepted as a logical consequence of this transfer of power and transformation of civilization are the casualties involved. This, to me, qualifies as a war. A war on humanity. A war on you. Plain. And. Simple.
The ultimate result of this transformational process requires the human population to submit or be eliminated. For a completely new way of organizing human civilization to happen, people must be simultaneously brought to the point of least resistance and/or collapse. A point of least resistance can be triggered by ideological warfare while a point of collapse can be triggered by a catastrophic disruption to the means of survival. We are currently witnessing both.
Will the emerging new civilization model be a better one? Possibly, under the conditions that (1) the transition itself will allow a few “seed” population pockets to continue to thrive regardless of the unfolding events, and (2) those population pockets will have the capacity to deploy geo-engineering mechanisms and technologies capable to restore environmental balance in a very short period of time. While this is hypothetical, it is also very possible. What is very clear to me however, is that the human cost will be catastrophic and absolutely random, with heavy losses beginning in 2027. The possible miscalculation I mentioned before is whether or not those population pockets acting like seeds for a new civilization model will actually manage to thrive instead of self-destroy or collapse. And this is where my optimism dissolves entirely because it faces an antithetical predicament.
A “positive” outcome of the current trajectory of events would require a totally amoral and immoral human seed bank to almost suddenly transform itself into a moral - or at least a humanitarianly driven cluster of moral visionaries. To me, this is practically improbable. Should such a cluster of humans survive and emerge, their moral core today will likely drive them to rebuilding tomorrow, rather than redesigning the new civilization model. They would restart humanity from a predatorial moral core, not an altruistic one. For most of us however, it would no longer matter anyway.
So where does this leave us, those witnessing the events unravel an unimaginable yet palpable plan unfolding step by step right in front of our eyes? If this was a problem - and a massively crucial problem it is - it would also demand the existence of possible solutions, or at least measures to be deployed with the purpose of lessening the impact on all of us. So as we are witnesses to a devious war on humanity, is there a way to help ourselves from becoming more than just victims, but casualties?
The manufacturers of this war are young psychopaths financed by old money and driven by a hybrid ideology of supremacy and extremism. The climate change being accelerated by our current civilization is akin to a fully loaded sixteen wheeler or a massive container cargo ship - it picks up speed slowly and comes to a full stop even slower. In both cases, our survival is a race against time - both metaphorically and literally. The warmakers are too young to fade quickly into oblivion while the climate change is impossible to stop or slow down even if we were to start yesterday. Human insanity is what is destroying us while time is what we mindlessly wasted and now ran out of.
What we need is not a move toward a revolution, but a revolutionary movement of global proportions. Unfortunately, just like the news, a global revolutionary movement gives us pause and eventually we can’t even phantom to imagine it. We give up simply because we perceive it as a useless impossibility.
What we need is a new hobby. A gamified social experiment. Something fun, exciting, and engaging.
In 1962, Arthur C. Clarke wrote - "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." I believe that any sufficiently entertaining constructive social incentive is indistinguishable from a cultural and social revolution. We need a means to connect while playing a culturally terraforming game with real tokens to be acquired via measurable socio-economic accomplishments. We need to make saving ourselves worth something. We need to be rewarded for being socially conscious of others.
Could it work? Possibly. Do we have the ingenuity to begin and the time to reach far and wide in attracting global players? Yes and no.
Can we save ourselves from the damaging effects of surrendering our individual and community sovereignty to a handful of psychopaths…?
I no longer believe so.
What we can do is mentally prepare, physically train, relocate if possible, consolidate resources if available, stock up on vital life saving items, and start a numbers’ game of being ready to jumpstart humanity once more - should we be fortunate enough to be there as it happens.
This is a doomsday scenario, one we cannot believe, nor accept, that it can take place. It is a scenario happening live, in real-time, now, and yet we deny its consequences. We simply cannot cope with this reality. Truth? We can’t handle the truth…
So let me flip this for a moment. In theory, life should get better, correct? When parents are responsible and caring, they try to improve the quality of their children. That’s basically a no-brainer. As parents, we try to guide our children toward responsibility, but we do not purposely dismantle their standard of living just to teach them a lesson they could use a couple of decades down the road. It would be absurd and frankly quite evil - as if we would punish our own children for simply existing. Should parents act like this, it would not reflect their love and care, but rather a deeply profound disrespect and even disdain. It would not be neglect, it would be vindictive and spiteful. The children of such parents would feel abandonment, pain, fear and insecurity. The children of such parents would feel defenseless. disrespected and devalued, as well as being used and abused. Certainly not happy. Certainly not safe. Certainly not empowered. Certainly not cared for. Breaking down rather than developing in a healthy way.
As a country and even as a planet, those in power were given the responsibility of “parenting” humanity. Those people and corporations we chose to help grow and elevate to positions of decision-making power betrayed our trust and turned against us all. They were entrusted with the means to better our lives and to protect our future, and yet they always chose to grab these means for themselves while building a financial and ideological prison for the rest of us.
We, the billions of souls and minds who could stomp one time and the Earth would tremble, chose to surrender our will power and rights so that we can taste the bitter sweet addiction to numbness while still expecting everything to somehow, miraculously, be “alright.”
