Our losses illuminate our treasures.

".. We all carry within ourselves untapped resources for becoming amazing human beings capable of astonishing deeds benefiting humanity’s present and future.."

With the tragic loss of Jane Goodall, one more bright light disappeared from humanity’s sky of visionary stars.

Seeing the reactions in the news as well as various social media, made me think of two indistinguishably interconnected aspects of our reality as human beings.

On one hand, while our heroes and role models serve humanity in their own ways, inspiring generations of minds across space and time, these cherished humans leave us one other powerful message:

That all of humanity - down to every single individual - is capable of shining just as bright as each one of our heroes and that we all carry within ourselves untapped resources for becoming amazing human beings capable of astonishing deeds benefiting humanity’s present and future.

On the other hand, as tragic and even devastating as their losses may feel, we now live in a social environment that is capable to amplify not only our heroes’ messages, but also their deeds, actions, and lifetime of choices, thus, tracing an invaluable map of treasures containing a guiding system for our civilization’s future, and a powerful compass pointing us towards progress and a healthy life lived in harmony with ourselves and our world.

Our heroes and role models lead the way and brighten our paths, while in the end their loss illuminates the map of virtues guiding us forward.

To me, this means that every human being I meet not only carries a powerful and untold story, but also adds to the brightness of our sky of dreams and hopes.

While this is hard and even impossible to consider when facing the evil some humans are capable of, we must not give into the anger awakened by pain and suffering. What we MUST do instead, is to let our inner hero seek and see the inner heroes of those around us, then, together, illuminate a path toward a brighter, kinder, and more respectful future.

With gratitude but also with determination, we must leave behind the world that made us, and open visionary windows facing forward, facing peaceful progress, and facing global cooperation.

Because we now know better. Our cherished and celebrated lost heroes made sure of it.
