Without civic education all resistance collapses into symbolism. Do not apply force where it is painless.
Authoritarian Ideologies:
The struggle was real and lasted for more than 4 (four) DECADES. It was immediately replaced by a profoundly dysfunctional and corrupt new "democratic" regime taking Authoritarian principles to more subtle forms lasting to this day (36+ years).
Romania 1947-1989

During Ceausescu's Dictatorship in Romania, people were not afraid of the Security apparatus stationed at every street corner. They feared that no one would come to their RESCUE if they even lifted their eyes against the Regime. Fear had a face and it often looked like a neighbor, a co-worker, a friend, and even a family member. It lasted DECADES and it made use of what nowadays would be considered primitive technology.
In the USA, and increasingly globally as well, none of this is "fine". We are accelerating into a descent from which our society might never recover from. We are approaching a point of no return, a point when only one solution will remain in order to regain some sense of civility and progress.
No civilian is ever prepared for this. Dictatorships can exist because civilians are conditioned to survive (aka "endure") and disbelieve reality (aka "hope for the best"). We're in the middle of a 1-2 lethal strikes against freedom. Worldwide.
