I know that some folks here in the US, are proud and supportive of what is happening. I believe that this pride and support comes from a very misplaced sense of feeling superior to others, especially others from foreign countries. This, to me, is the scariest aspect of the current developments and direction in which this country is being driven into.

The madmen in control of executive power do not scare me either, although they should because they are real and extremely well organized and funded.
No, what frightens me is not power. What frightens me into the deepest seat of my hope for a different future is the culturally immature nature of this nation and its self-destructive arrogance.
Here is a "good" read - just released. This is where we're headed, and if you can't see the issues in there, we all have big problems, but our kids will have much, much larger issues.
As always, some of us wonder if there are any real, practical solutions to fix this. Not many, I'm afraid. Once in place, a militarized apparatus of power cannot be easily removed from a society.
